Perhaps my most important qualification
for serving on the Board of Directors for Unity of Surprise is that
I love this spiritual community its generosity of spirit,
its vibration of love, its openness and caring. Serving with you
and for you would be a joyful expression of serving God.
I have had the honor of being involved
in this community as a Prayer Chaplain, with book store ordering, as
event picture taker, singing in the choir and as a workshop
junkie.
My spiritual journey has been lifelong
and in a variety of settings. In the 90s, I was a member of Unity
of Sedona. I have explored many wonderful paths to God.
Michigan is where I was born and grew
up. I moved to Chicago as a bride and it was in that wonderful city
that I raised my children and spent most of my professional
life. I am a diploma program trained registered nurse. In addition,
I have a Bachelors degree in Business and a Masters degree
in Management (where I got to terrorize my faculty in the early 80s
by doing my thesis on training sales people to meditate as a vehicle
for success).
I have two beautiful children, Lori,
who is in the TV industry in LA and Jerry, who is a Lt. Col in the US
Air Force, currently living in Germany.
Meditating on Bell Rock one day in the
late 80s prompted my first husband and I to buy a house
in Sedona. We moved from Chicago to there and Scottsdale in 1993, full
time. In 1997, he made his transition after a rapid onset of pancreatic
cancer. I met and married George Sodini a year later and he whisked
me off to New Jersey for 11 years as well as around the world. He retired
two years ago and we moved to the West Valley, ultimately making Sun
City West our home. Together, we have four children, eleven grandchildren
and two great grand children.
A sampling of my past Board experience
and volunteer experience would include years with the SIDS Foundation
where, among many positions, I served on their National Board and eventually
as their Executive Director. (A third child of mine died of SIDS.) I
have published and taught in the field of Death and Dying, as well as
been involved in the management of Hospice and Home Health agencies.
I was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of three Chicago area
hospitals, President of the DuPage County Chapter of Zonta, Intl. and
a variety of other rewarding positions.
But most of all, I believe that we should
live joyfully and fully, sharing out talents, skills and blooming where
we are planted. I love being planted in the West Valley and look forward
to continuing joyful blooming with Unity of Surprise.
